Its been quite sometime since I posted a blog...Decided to just restart with a small one.
I recently joined a startup in San Francisco, amidst all the recession bruhaha! Keeping my fingers
crossed, as I'm trying to get hold of an apartment to stay in this expensive beautiful city :-)

hmm..more to pen later

Phew!

Its been a long time since I posted! One of my projects got over in April (after 9 months)
and I had every opportunity to go to India, but I stuck around and booked tickets for parents..
Unfortunately, they could not make it, and another of my projects started (it might take 6 months)
darn!

It would be ridiculous to go after a gap of 3yrs. But it will be a much awaited visit

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the movie Sivaji..

my laptop

LJ friends, i need some advice.. No jokes plz..This is a serious post!

I have a HP pavillion ze5500 laptop..
* Bought it 3.5yrs back.
* Battery backup is low, and it needs to be plugged in all the time
* Makes quite some noise, and gets heated up
* It has both XP and Linux running...Its kind of slow on XP (might be some worms lingering arnd)
and has only 256 MB RAM

I was thinking of the various things I can do with it now
a) Sell the laptop, might get arnd 350$ - buy a new laptop for 800 bucks..so investment
- 500/600$
b) Get a new battery (~75$), new heatsync and some tuning (100$ for the electronics repair shop)
and (format + reinstall XP)...Investment is 150-200$..This might come good for another yr
c) Just format and reinstall XP (or Linux) and use as a second m/c..get a new laptop
(investment 800$)

what kind of person!

Just a thought that came to my mind. Does the personality/attitude of a person remain the same
irrespective of where he is? I understand that it changes over time & experiences,
but does it change depending on location?
Essentially, I'm looking at what makes ppl change? if its the place, then do globe-trotters have
the best attitude in life since they have seen a lot? There's some moral-story abt a 'frog in the well' that I had read as a kid...Just trying to connect that here :-)

geeky forever?

How long are we going to be geeky and tech savvy? Our lives are so dependent on the Internet, atleast in the US..Are the good ol' days where we do things by word-of-mouth gone? To go to a restaurant,
we use reviews(yelp.com) and google/yahoo maps for directions/traffic-conditions and printout deals
for coupons, and use communities/forums to find parking situation blah blah...
To buy anything(or atleast most of the things), we first find the cheapest price on the net and
go to the store only to feel it..Even for travelling, tickets are bought online, all the planning
and places to visit are decided online and u'd have already seen the photos on google images...so
u can expect what to see. Isn't there life unexplored and beyond the Internet? umph!

Some moments to cherish/remember from 2005...

a. Having an educative discussion with my housemates and a friend,
the night I came back from India ;-))
b. Going to the beach at 4AM in the morning, getting down the rocks with
the light from cellphone.
c. Seeing the sun rays penentrating through the trees on a foggy day
at 6AM while returning from the lab. This picture is permenantly
pictured in my mind.
d. Graduation ceremony - being hooded by my professor.
e. white water rafting, leaving the oars and just letting the boat float
and enjoying the nature
f. When I got my Ipod :-)
g. Dolphins & whales in sandiego waterworld - its amazing how these animals
can be trained.
h. Driving in New york city and from NY to Baltimore
i. Getting my degree certificate with Arnold's autograph on it !
j. watching it snow for the first time in my life !
k. Driving in the storm from LA to SJ in a subcompact car which was
being swerved by the gust winds
