05:49 pm - Phew! Its been a long time since I posted! One of my projects got over in April (after 9 months) and I had every opportunity to go to India, but I stuck around and booked tickets for parents.. Unfortunately, they could not make it, and another of my projects started (it might take 6 months) darn!
It would be ridiculous to go after a gap of 3yrs. But it will be a much awaited visit
Anyways, I'm looking forward to the movie Sivaji..

01:58 pm - my laptop LJ friends, i need some advice.. No jokes plz..This is a serious post!
I have a HP pavillion ze5500 laptop.. * Bought it 3.5yrs back. * Battery backup is low, and it needs to be plugged in all the time * Makes quite some noise, and gets heated up * It has both XP and Linux running...Its kind of slow on XP (might be some worms lingering arnd) and has only 256 MB RAM
I was thinking of the various things I can do with it now a) Sell the laptop, might get arnd 350$ - buy a new laptop for 800 bucks..so investment - 500/600$ b) Get a new battery (~75$), new heatsync and some tuning (100$ for the electronics repair shop) and (format + reinstall XP)...Investment is 150-200$..This might come good for another yr c) Just format and reinstall XP (or Linux) and use as a second m/c..get a new laptop (investment 800$)

05:46 pm - syncing with tech I find it difficult to keep updated with all the tech/research stuff happenning. No wonder, the lecturers at jce just read the text books and were contented! I guess they did justice to their salary :-) But the sad part was that they couldn't understand even the books :P

05:41 pm - what kind of person! Just a thought that came to my mind. Does the personality/attitude of a person remain the same irrespective of where he is? I understand that it changes over time & experiences, but does it change depending on location? Essentially, I'm looking at what makes ppl change? if its the place, then do globe-trotters have the best attitude in life since they have seen a lot? There's some moral-story abt a 'frog in the well' that I had read as a kid...Just trying to connect that here :-)

05:16 pm - geeky forever? How long are we going to be geeky and tech savvy? Our lives are so dependent on the Internet, atleast in the US..Are the good ol' days where we do things by word-of-mouth gone? To go to a restaurant, we use reviews(yelp.com) and google/yahoo maps for directions/traffic-conditions and printout deals for coupons, and use communities/forums to find parking situation blah blah... To buy anything(or atleast most of the things), we first find the cheapest price on the net and go to the store only to feel it..Even for travelling, tickets are bought online, all the planning and places to visit are decided online and u'd have already seen the photos on google images...so u can expect what to see. Isn't there life unexplored and beyond the Internet? umph!

12:30 am - school umpteen reasons why school's a better place than industry
- cool babes, no aunties! - chill dudes to hangout - no one talks abt money, immigration :-) - same good work and learning - cool things happenning arnd u - no planning of weekends, long weekends; everyday's the same, except fewer buses plying to school on weekends - no one asking 'what are u planning for this weekend and next long weekend' - phreak, I'm not planning my life!
The list goes on!!
btw, I'm a major cribber...and in all likelihood I would have cribbed abt school while studying - the late nights and shittily designed engineering buildings ;-0
